I guess that Cyrus the Great would be bad at bluffing
a bit of ancient history
in the Achaemenid Persian Empire
which existed from 550 to 330 BC
telling a lie was considered to be
literally one of the worst things
that a human could do
the penalty for being a liar
was death
now while I do think
that people telling the truth
is most of the time
a good move
I certainly don’t agree
that a liar
should be publicly executed
the Achaemenid Persian Empire
also loved money
almost as much as they loved war
and they definitely practiced slavery
to put into perspective
how long ago this all was
I’m rambling about some
of the very first people
to ever use metal coinage
it is pretty zany in a fun way
to ponder how they
picked and chose
their morals
I wonder what they would think
about the poker games
we play today
